Dear Member
DISS & DISTRICT RAFA BRANCH
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - CALLING NOTICE 2022
The Chairman and fellow Officers of the Diss & District Branch wish to invite you to participate in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2022 which will be held on Monday 28 February 2022 at The Diss & District Bowls Club, Denmark Street, Diss IP22 4BE at 7:30pm.
It was agreed by the members at the Branch Meeting on 24 January 2022 as proposed by the Committee (due to the low response rate in 2021 from emails sent to members), to publicly announce the Calling Notice for the 2022 AGM on our Branch Website and Facebook page. Voting will be by those who attend or by written submission in advance of the meeting to the Chairman. The purpose of the AGM is to:
Elect the officers and Trustees of the Branch,
- Consider and approve the Annual Accounts,
- Consider and approve the Trustees Report for the year,
- Approve the Independent Examiner of the Accounts,
- Agree the Annual Objectives of the Branch for the year ahead.
The Accounts and Reports will be presented at the Meeting on 28 February. The Officers and Trustees standing for this year’s elections are as follows:

Please note that the intention is to restructure the Executive Committee so that Marilyn can hand over the role of Branch Secretary to Tony Canfer- whose IT skillset will be a huge benefit for the branch - whilst retaining her Quartermaster role of holding the Branch equipment and stocks for our Wings Appeal stands. Once both parties are content to effect transfer of responsibilities, Marilyn will cease to be a Trustee and focus her energies on the role of Deputy Wings Appeal Officer.
Note also that Suzanne Ferguson has stood down as Membership Officer due to ill health and handed over her duties to Michael Keitch who is standing for formal approval for the first time.
As Chairman I am very pleased with the support and continued dedication of my fellow Committee Members. I would like to thank Marilyn and Suzanne for their outstanding work on behalf of the Branch as Trustees and welcome both Michael and Tony to their new roles on the Committee. I would encourage any member interested in standing for one of the posts in the future to contact me directly for more information about what is involved in being a Branch Officer and how you can help.
Independent Examiner. Stuart Riseborough, a retired bank manager who lives at Wymondham who meets all of the required criteria for the role, has agreed to continue in the post of Independent Examiner until further notice.
Finally, I am delighted that we can hold a physical meeting once again now that the restrictions of the covid epidemic have eased. I sincerely hope that our enhanced IT capability with the new Committee Structure will enable us to improve our communication to members through emails, e-newsletters and greater engagement for those unable to attend the regular Branch Meetings. In the meantime I would encourage all members to attend the AGM if at all possible and I look forward to seeing you on Monday 28 February.
Yours sincerely
